The World Affairs Council - Washington, DC (WAC-DC) was a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization established in 1980. Its mission was to enhance global awareness among the American public and the international community. WAC-DC focused on educating the public about international affairs, geopolitical issues, and civil society concerns. During its operational years, WAC-DC offered a variety of educational programs, including public events featuring prominent speakers, professional development seminars for educators, and youth programs like Academic WorldQuest competitions. The organization also engaged in global education curriculum development and hosted diplomatic and business events. WAC-DC was part of the World Affairs Councils of America network, which includes 90 councils across the United States. It ceased operations on December 31, 2018, after 38 years of service.
