What does Conservation Lands do?

The Conservation Lands Foundation (CLF) is a nonprofit organization based in Durango, Colorado, founded in 2007. Its mission is to protect, restore, and expand the National Conservation Lands, which encompass 38 million acres of public lands, rivers, and trails managed primarily by the Bureau of Land Management (BLM). CLF focuses on community-led conservation, emphasizing the importance of local passion and wisdom in safeguarding nature and public lands. CLF employs three main strategies: mobilizing community passion through grants and support for over 80 organizations, advocating for land protection and improved policies, and increasing public support through education and campaigns. Since its inception, CLF has permanently protected 10 million acres and added 150 units to the National Conservation Lands system. The organization also engages in public education and community mobilization to combat threats to these lands. Through partnerships with various organizations and funding from grants, CLF continues to make a significant impact in conservation efforts across the western U.S.
