The Western Bulldogs are an Australian Rules Football club based in Melbourne, Victoria, competing in the Australian Football League (AFL). Founded in 1877 as the Footscray Football Club, the team joined the VFL in 1925 and adopted the name Western Bulldogs in 1996. The club proudly represents Melbourne's western suburbs and has a rich history spanning over a century. The Bulldogs play their home matches at Marvel Stadium in the Docklands area and train at their headquarters, Whitten Oval, also known as "The Kennel." The club has achieved notable success, winning two VFL/AFL premierships in 1954 and 2016, along with a premiership for their women's team in 2018. The club's colors are blue, red, and white, and their mascot is a bulldog. The club song, "Sons of the West," reflects their strong community ties and supporter base from the working-class regions of Melbourne.
