What does BioBuilder do?

BioBuilder Educational Foundation is a nonprofit organization founded in 2011 at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Led by Dr. Natalie Kuldell, the foundation focuses on enhancing life science education by integrating biology and engineering. Its mission is to build bioliteracy, science identity, and workforce-relevant skills, empowering students to envision themselves as bioengineers. The foundation offers a range of educational resources, including the BioBuilder Curriculum, which provides project-based learning in synthetic biology for high school students, and the BioTechBuilder Curriculum, aimed at career and technical education. BioBuilder also supports educators through training programs, after-school clubs, and lab kits, ensuring that students from diverse backgrounds can access meaningful futures in biotechnology. With programs reaching over 87,000 individuals across 50 U.S. states and more than 80 countries, BioBuilder is committed to preparing the next generation for careers in the bioeconomy.
