About this podcast

THE PHANTOM OF OCEAN PARK is a Full Cast Audio Drama Podcast – In 1968, Ocean Park in Santa Monica was one of those quintessential places at the epicenter of "Somethin' happenin' here", to quote Stephen Stills. Ocean Park, Venice, by the water, it was Haight-Ashbury, with a beach. All peace and love, until Santa Monica City and its developers imposed eminent domain and bulldozed the beach neighborhoods, devastating families and bankrupting P-O-P, our beloved amusement park, so they could tear down the pier and start throwing up high-rises from Pico to Venice. But that summer of '68, they had a big problem. The Cheetah, Ocean Park's world-renowned rock'n'roll club, was still on the pier and wildly popular, with bands like Creedence packing the house nightly…. Then the murders started. The Phantom of Ocean Park was produced, written, and directed by Chris Côté and Dayle Kerry. Starring Matylda Kerry as Roxy Allen, Josh McClenney as Cody Bell, Dayle Kerry as Maeve Allen, Chris Côté as Eddie Gannon, Dawn Joyal as Gramma Frances, Ali Badalov as Rhett Liedecker, Mark Shubb as Sergeant Kirker, Robin Abcarian as Carla Davenport, Roy Vongtama as Detective Larson, Anton Shuster as Stephen Mueller, Feo Chin as Brick Lasicka, Paul Chepikian as Mister Bishop and as Frank Dirksen, William Woff as Bill Fork and as the Channel Five News Anchor, Maria Spassoff as Ana Maria, Dahlia Lagos as Claudia Maria Mesa, Nick Holmes as Biggsie, Helaine Lembeck as Peggy, Bonnie's Assistant, and as the music fan outside the Cheetah, Andy Goldberg as Reporter Neal Lynch, as Philip Mason, as Deputy Dawson, and as Randy, the Cheetah manager, Fin Kim as Frederick Sanders, as Sky Saxon, and as the Santa Monica Fire and Rescue guy, Matthew Cole as Deputy Bailey, and as Mister Bishop's Driver. Music by Jack Côté. Rhett sung by Rick Neigher. Roxy sung by Matylda Kerry. Claudia sung by Dahlia Lagos. "I Put a Spell on You" was written by Screamin' Jay Hawkins and Herb Slotkin and performed by Creedence Clearwater Revival. "Lies" was written by Beau Charles and Buddy Randell and performed by Rick Neigher and Chris Côté. "Why" was written and performed by Rick Neigher and Chris Côté, with backing vocals by Dahlia Lagos and Matylda Kerry. "Can't Seem to Make You Mine" was written by Sky Saxon and performed by the Seeds. In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida was written by Doug Ingle and performed by Iron Butterfly. The Mod Squad Theme was composed by Earl Hagen. Cover art by Edie Côté. The Phantom of Ocean Park is a work of fiction. Names, characters, businesses, places, events, locales, and incidents are either the products of the author's imagination or used in a fictitious manner.
