About this podcast

This short series of podcasts gives listeners the opportunity to find out more about the forgotten history of the last armed rebellion in England. It was easily quashed by a repressive government still fearful of the French Revolution of 1789. They used ‘Oliver the Spy’ to infiltrate the rebels which led to the execution of the three leaders; Jeremiah Brandreth, William Turner and Isaac Ludlam and the transportation of 14 others to Australia following a rigged trial.
