作詞・作曲:藤原和義 日本の高度成長期を背景に、重いツルハシを担ぎほこりにまみれながら山を切り拓いて林道を作る労働者たちの厳しい日常とそれに負けず汗を流す誇りを力強く歌い上げた曲です。 現在でも広く親しまれている曲です。
曲のお話よりも作曲者林光さんへの思い出が溢れて、脱線する忠やんです。 作詞は1952年のメーデー事件で犠牲となった高橋正夫さんのメモを元に作られました。若者の魂がたたかいの中でこそ鍛えられるという強いメッセージソングです。
ポーランド民謡で日本では『森へ行きましょう』で知られる名曲を取り上げます。忠やんの当時の思い出話と時代背景から新しい味わいが出てきます〜
