The FutureLakes podcast takes you behind the scenes of an ambitious European project rethinking how we protect and restore lakes. Through conversations with researchers, practitioners, and local partners, it explores the ideas, challenges, and innovations shaping a new blueprint for healthier lakes and biodiversity. ~ FutureLakes is pioneering the transformation of lake restoration across Europe by demonstrating a variety of in-lake and catchment solutions to restore lake water quality and biodiversity. By embracing nature-based, circular economy, and biodiversity-focused solutions, the project showcases new approaches for lake basin management. FutureLakes demonstrates these cutting-edge solutions in 10 pilot sites. Six large European lake basins demonstrate the effectiveness of integrating a number of solutions, coupled with innovations in governance, public engagement, policy, and financing.
