Steven Cook: podcast appearances and interviews

Steven Cook is a British artist, photographer, and graphic designer known for his contributions to the comics industry. He served as the art director and designer for the British comic 2000 AD from 1988 to 2001, during which he created numerous striking cover illustrations and designed its distinctive logo that remains in use. His work also includes projects for Marvel Comics, DC Comics, Vertigo, Deadline magazine, and Manga publishing. For Vertigo, he designed the anniversary cover for VERTIGO X, a special edition celebrating ten years of DC's adult-fiction imprint. Outside of comics, Cook has designed album covers for artists such as Asian Dub Foundation, William Orbit, and Last Man Standing. His album sleeve work includes titles like Tank, Time Freeze, A History of Now, and Strange Cargo III. One of his notable works outside of record sleeve design is the selection of his album cover for Last Man Standing in the 2008 London exhibition 'SPIN – The Art of Record Design', curated by Peter Saville and Dylan Jones. In 2010, Warner Bros. employed Cook's comic book logo for the marketing campaign of the film The Losers. He is also a lecturer at the University of the Arts London. Over the past decade, Cook has developed a body of work that involves remixing his photography with imagery from past eras, creating a series titled 'Alternity' that visualizes scenes from parallel universes where time boundaries are blurred. His work has been exhibited in New York and London, including a show featuring a live performance by writer Grant Morrison and musical accompaniment by Ysanne Spevack.
