Hans Von Spakovsky: podcast appearances and interviews

Hans Anatol von Spakovsky is an American attorney and senior legal fellow at Advancing American Freedom. He previously served as a member of the Federal Election Commission and managed The Heritage Foundation's Election Law Reform Initiative. At The Heritage Foundation, he is also a senior legal fellow in the Meese Center for Legal and Judicial Studies. Von Spakovsky is known for advocating for stricter voting laws and has been influential in shaping conservative perspectives on voter fraud within the Republican Party. His nomination to the FEC was made by President George W. Bush in December 2005 and was confirmed via recess appointment in January 2006. However, his nomination faced opposition from Senate Democrats, who raised concerns about his perceived partisan oversight of voter laws, and from Justice Department staff who accused him of politicizing his office. The nomination was eventually withdrawn in May 2008. Following this, von Spakovsky continued his work in election law at The Heritage Foundation. In 2017, he was appointed by President Donald Trump to the Presidential Advisory Commission on Election Integrity, a panel that disbanded after six months amid controversy. He contributed to the Project 2025 initiative on federal election oversight.
