About Peter Cole
Peter Cole, born in 1957 in Paterson, New Jersey, is a poet and translator recognized for his contributions to literature. He has received the MacArthur Fellowship for his work. Cole attended Williams College and Hampshire College before relocating to Jerusalem in 1981. His unique approach to poetry and translation has been widely acknowledged; the critic Harold Bloom referred to him as one of the few authentic poets of his American generation. Cole resides in both Jerusalem and New Haven, where he continues his literary pursuits. In an interview with The Paris Review in 2015, he noted that his work as a poet and translator represents a continuum, with both activities fundamentally interconnected.
