Women in Autonomy (WIA) is an organization based in the San Francisco Bay Area that focuses on empowering women in the autotech industry. Founded by Indu Vijayan, WIA serves as a forum for female influencers, innovators, executives, engineers, policymakers, and academics. The organization aims to address the underrepresentation of women in automotive technology, particularly in leadership and public-facing roles. WIA hosts bi-monthly meetups to discuss industry challenges and promote networking, advocacy, and education. WIA offers several initiatives to support women in autonomous technology, including a mentorship program, a speaker’s bureau for connecting female experts, and educational events featuring discussions on topics like AI bias in autonomous vehicle development. In February 2024, WIA merged with Women in Automotive Technology (WAT) to strengthen their efforts and continue providing valuable resources and programs for women in the industry.
