Formed in 1836 at a time of some political upheaval, Scots families met at St. Andrew's Church and decided that a Society should be formed so that, as a united group, they could raise money to assist new immigrants from Scotland who were in distressed circumstances.\\Scots who had already found their feet in this new city set out to assist immigrant Scots just arriving here. Over the years the St. Andrew's Society has maintained a keen interest in its people and its mandate. These days we have expanded our charitable endeavours to all those in need, regardless of country of origin, through the legacy of our St. Andrew's Charitable Foundation. Each year we provide grants to help organizations across Toronto.\\Throughout the 176 years of its existence, the Society has been dedicated to maintaining connections with Scottish culture and helping those in need. The St Andrew's Society hosts is entirely run by volunteers to host fundraisers and donate proceeds to community initiatives, as well as cultivate a sense of heritage and community in Toronto.\\Celebrating Scottish heritage in Toronto, supporting our community.
