Plantish is an Israeli food-tech startup focused on creating plant-based alternatives to animal proteins, particularly whole-cut seafood substitutes. Founded in early 2021, the company is led by a team of food scientists and bioengineers, including CEO Ofek Ron and Chief Science Officer Dr. Ron Sicsic. Plantish aims to promote sustainability by addressing the challenges of the current animal-based food system, with the United States as its primary market. The flagship product of Plantish is a whole-cut plant-based salmon fillet, designed to mimic the taste, texture, and appearance of traditional salmon. This innovative product is made from legume proteins and algae extracts, utilizing proprietary formulations and 3D printing technology. It is high in protein and omega-3s, free from common contaminants found in ocean fish, and can be prepared using various cooking methods. Plantish plans to launch its product in restaurants starting in December 2023, with a nationwide rollout expected by 2024.
