What does Holematthi do?

The Holematthi Nature Foundation (HNF) is a not-for-profit organization that is committed to preserving and protecting the wildlife of Karnataka, a state in southern India known for its biodiversity-rich forests, rivers, and human-wildlife interfaces. Our body of work at the HNF revolves around an interdisciplinary approach that works in tandem with multiple stakeholders such as communities that share a space with wildlife, government bodies, media and the general public. At Holématthi, we believe that effective conservation must acknowledge the complexities of human-nature relationships. Our programs are rooted in this understanding and aim to create a lasting impact, whether it is through supporting forest-fringe communities with sustainable alternatives, conducting long-term ecological research, or fostering awareness among the next generation.
