Columbia High School
About
Columbia High School is a four-year public high school located in Maplewood, New Jersey, serving students in grades 9-12. As the sole secondary school in the South Orange-Maplewood School District, it has a rich history as New Jersey's first high school, operating for over two centuries. The school is accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools and has an enrollment of 1,933 students with a student-teacher ratio of 12.9:1. The school's mission focuses on educating and inspiring a diverse community of students to develop their talents and become responsible citizens. Columbia High School is known for its nationally recognized Chinese language program and for being the birthplace of Ultimate Frisbee. The school also competes in the Freedom White division of the North Jersey Super Football Conference, one of the largest high school sports leagues in the nation. Principal Frank Sanchez leads the school with the support of an administrative team.
