What does America Makes do?

America Makes is a leading public-private partnership focused on additive manufacturing (AM) technology, education, and workforce development. Founded in 2012 as the Department of Defense’s first National Manufacturing Innovation Institute, it is headquartered in Youngstown, Ohio, and managed by the National Center for Defense Manufacturing and Machining. The organization brings together members from industry, academia, government, and economic development to promote AM adoption and enhance U.S. manufacturing competitiveness. The mission of America Makes centers on three key areas: advancing AM technology, developing the AM workforce, and expanding the AM industrial ecosystem.
